Functional place with caring employees in both service and facilities. Cosy base for exploring Ayers Rock...

I stayed at the Outback Pioneer Hotel in 2009 and again this year and I must say that this year's visit was a lot more pleasant, mainly due to the staff I dealt with. All staff members seemed to really want to please and there was a very high standard of customer service from front desk to maintenance man to bar staff to cleaner. After my 2009 visit (where a few things went wrong), I was reluctant to return to my travelling companion insisted. After this year's visit, I will happily return and will recommend the hotel to friends and family.
Things (factilities) appeared a little 'tired' as there were quite a few maintenance issues eg. Toilets running, computer mouse not working, noisy/old heater in room. I think that for the rate charged for the rooms, these things should be checked on and repaired as quickly as possible. It was a shame to have running toilets and broken door locks take the edge of such good customer service and otherwise pleasant/comfortable facilities.

During my two-night stay in the area, I enjoyed having breakfast at the outdoor restaurant that was conveniently located within walking distance to a movie theater.

The hotel was "fine" though perhaps more basic than some of the others in the resort.Nice swimmimg pool and good outdoor bar facility - shared with the lodge and camping guests.

The best thing about our stay in hotel was the crisp fresh sheets every day.

Ideal location - close to the shopping district and malls, just a short walk away. September was definitely a great time to visit, everything was just right! 🛍️

Location
It is outrageously expensive, even for Australia prices. The plan of the facility did not take into account that it does rain there sometimes, so we had difficulty getting to our room without wading through 4 inches of standing water.

The staff were excellent, our bags were taken to our room & picked up in the morning. We needed to have something printed out from our computer they were more than happy to receive it as an email & they printed it out for us.

The friendly staff and having our room cleaned and serviced each day..The Kitchen for cooking and washing up etc.
I really couldn't understand why we were charged an extra $100 on the 6th night..The one way exit and entry was a little confusing , specially the exiting. Perhaps some disabled parking ..my heart condition made it a little hard at times carrying luggage etc to and from room.

The bush setting was nice.
The noise from the live music at night was extremely loud and made sleep impossible until after 11 pm (too late for someone who had just completed a marathon).

The staff here were really friendly and attentive. It's super peaceful and the location is convenient even though it's in the desert. Ate at the Ilkari Restaurant, which was quite near. 🌵

Nothing
Staff seem to be very aware you are in the middle of nowhere, with very few options (almost captive customer)
